"Lane" Tompkins, 75, of Vivian, were held Saturday, June 23, at 4 p.m., at McGuire Funeral Home in Vivian, with the Rev. J. W. Crow, pastor of Walnut Hill Baptist Church, and the Rev. Gary Jones, assistant pastor if Vivian Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial followed in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens of Vivian. Mr. Tompkins died Thursday, June 21, in Boutte, after a lengthy illness. A native of Zavalla, Texas, Mr. Tompkins had lived in Vivian for 47 years. He was a retired employee of Bauer Hardware in Vivian, and a member of the Pipefitters Union, and Walnut Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include son, Ralph B. Tompkins of Vivian; daughter, Jenalane O'Donnell of Boutte; sisters, Edna Oakersen of Zwolle, and Annie Keene of Shreveport; six grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were Lane Tompkins, Charles Tompkins, Ronald Tompkins, H. F. Hargett, Bob Theriot, and Merle Collins.
