Stanley Tompkins of Lafayette, were held on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m., in the Martin and Castille Funeral Home Chapel of Lafayette. Interment and committal services were held in the Many Cemetery at 3 p.m., on Nov. 12. The Rev. Fred M. Fraser, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Church Point, conducted the services. Mr. Tompkins, a native of Many, died at 9:10 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 10, at his Lafayette residence. He was 52. Survivors include his three daughters, Kimberly Tompkins, Amy Tompkins, and Catherine Tompkins, all of Lafayette; his former wife, Sandra Tompkins of Lafayette; his companion, Kenneth Seale of Lafayette; his father and stepmother, Horace and Ruth Tompkins of Many; and three brothers, Victor Tompkins of Baton Rouge, Dr. Norman Terry Tompkins of Dallas, and Dr. Ronald Tompkins of Boston, Mass. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby McFerrin Tompkins. A resident of Lafayette for the past 17 years, he was employed by the State of Louisiana, Department of Environmental Quality, as a health physicist. He had previously been employed by Schlumberger Well Services in Morgan City, La., and Midland, Tex., and was also a division manager for Gearhart Owens. Professionally, he was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He was a graduate of Northwestern State University, where he received a degree in chemistry.
