All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Carlton Bennett Thompson Funeral services for Carlton Bennett Thompson, 53, of Many, were held Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Officiating was Rev. Clois Rodgers. Interment was at New Jerusalem Cemetery, under the direction of Thomas Mortuary. Mr. Thompson died Monday, Jan. 6, at his home in Many. After graduating from High School, he attended Grambling College for three years, and later decided to go into the Army. While in service, he served in Germany, Korea, and back to Germany. He received a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Sharpshooter M-14 Medal, and Expeditionary Medal. While in service, he married Shirley Moore, and to that union, one child was born, Carlton Bennett Thompson Jr. He later married Bessie Louise Taylor, and to that union, two daughters were born, Lawanika Shinette Thompson, and Karcanda Grant. We loved him, but God loved him best. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Thompson. Mr. Thompson is survived by two daughters, Lawanika Shinette Thompsopn of Many, and Karcanda Grant of Fort Stewart, Ga.; two sons, Carlton Bennett Thompson Jr. of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Brian Lynch of Natchitoches; one son-in-law, Miles Grant of Fort Stewart, Ga.; one sister, Wadie LaVerne Thomas of Many; one sister-in-law, Rose Thompson of Many; 8 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. To one very special friend who stood by him and helped take care of him when he was ill, Mr. Jerland Bush, the family would like to say thank you Jerland, for a job well done.
