Tompkins, age 80, who died at her home Wednesday, Aug. 26, at 12:30 p.m., were conducted at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27, with Rev. Coda Salter officiating, assisted by Rev. J. P. King. Interment was in the church cemetery, under the direction of Warren Funeral Home. Pallbearers were grandsons, who are Victor Tompkins, Norman Tompkins, Vernice Calvin Wright, Hollis Bray, Hoyt Tompkins Jr., John Harold Tompkins, E. C. McComic, and Willard McComic. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. T. C. Volentine, Dodson, Mrs. J. R. Bray, and Mrs. Vernice Wright, both of Many; sons, Horace Tompkins of Many, Hoyt L. Tompkins of Shreveport, and John H. Tompkins of Shreveport; five sisters, Mrs. J. Z. Miller, Mrs. I. J. Rice, Mrs. Etta Miller, all of Florien, Mrs. E. J. House of Fisher, Mrs. Lizzie Waller of Shreveport; 14 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
