Mrs. Avis Cassel Thomas

  Mrs. Avis Cassel Thomas, 89, died Sunday, July 18, 1999.

  She was a resident of Shreveport and an active member of Broadmoor
Baptist Church. Other activities included the Broadmoor Seniors
Exercise Program and serving as an auxiliary member for Highland
Hospital.

  Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Centuries Funeral home
Thursday, July 22 at 4 p.m. with the interment following at Centuries
Cemetery. Dr. Scott Tatum officiated. James P. Frey Jr., Jack Martin,
Floyd Mangum and Thomas Mangum assisted as pallbearers.

  Survivors include her devoted daughter, Carolyn Thomas Sheridan and
brother Tommy Cassel and wife Vergalie. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in
death by her loving husband, Mr. Mercer B. Thomas.
