Thomas (nee Martha Parrott) passed away Dec. 21, in St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles, at the age of 92, after a short illness. Mrs. Thomas was a native of Sabine Parish, having resided in Zwolle 89 years, before moving to Lake Charles, where she spent the last three years of her life. Since 1905, Mrs. Thomas was a member of Zwolle First Baptist Church. Recently, at the Church's seventy-fifth anniversary, she had the honor of receiving a beautiful leather bound Bible with her name engraved in gold, as being one of the two oldest living members of the church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Calcasieu Chapter, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Funeral services were conducted at Zwolle First Baptist Church, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, with the Rev. W. E. Spencer officiating. Interment was in the Zwolle Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Pallbearers were C. G. Bullard, Jack Jordan, Pete McCormic, C. C. Nabours, Randall Parrott, K. C. Peterson, Cecil Tooke, Carl Willis; Honorary Pallbearers were Max Brown, Quinton Brandon, Lloyd Murdock, Hoyt Maxey, Fred Roberson, Jr., Woodrow Salter, George Crocker, Raymond Ebarb, Richard V. Leone, Bill Hopkins, and David Peterson. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Willard Meek, (Pawnee) of Lake Charles; a step-grandson, Dr. Thomas L. Keelen, Jr., of Palos Verdes, California; a stepson, George H. Thomas of Lafayette, La., and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Louise Hill of San Carlos, California.
