All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** William Edward Thomas, Sr. Mr. William Edward Thomas, Sr., 70, of Pleasant Hill, died Thursday, December 26, 1985, at Pleasant Hill General Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He was born June 11, 1915, in Amity, Ark., and had been a resident of Louisiana since 1936. He was with the Shreveport Fire Department for fourteen years, and a captain of Bossier Base Fire Department for four years. He served with the U. S. Coast Guard for 3 1/2 years during World War II, and was a real estate and financial business man. He was founder and major stockholder in the Sabine Credit Corporation in Zwolle, La. for thirteen years. He was a cattleman near Marthaville, La. in recent years, retiring in 1977. He had been a resident of Pleasant Hill for the past eight years. He was a member of the Oliff Fair Post No. 300 in Pleasant Hill, and was a member of St. Terence Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louaudrey Bercher Thomas; one son, William E. Thomas, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Jane Jeffress Thomas; two grandchildren, Melyssa Jean Gault, and Benjamin Heath Gault, all of Pleasant Hill; one brother, Boyce A. Burns of Houston, Texas; one sister, Bernice M. Rella of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Flower Fund of their church, or have masses said at St. Terence Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill, or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zwolle. The services were held at the United Methodist Church in Pleasant Hill, at 2 p.m., on Friday, December 27. Father Earl Provenza, and Father Bernard Zagst officiated. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnnie May, Freddie May, Gene Poimboeuf, Mr. Judge Middleton, E. B. Malmay, and Mike Veuleman. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Freeman, Dale Skinner, Dr. Gene Poimboeuf, and Cliff Poimboeuf.
