"Jim" Thomas, 54, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Wednesday, August 30, at Memorial Medical Center Hospital in Lufkin, Texas. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas were held at the Laird Funeral Home Chapel in Nacogdoches, Texas, on Friday, September 1, at 4 p.m., with burial following in the Simpson Campground, Woden Community, Nacogdoches, Texas. Bro. Regan Sewell of the Woden Baptist Church, and Bro. Pat Phillips of the Woden United Pentecostal Church officiated the services. Mr. Thomas, who is a native of Zwolle, was a self employed welder, and owner/operator of a chicken farm, a veteran of the United States Army, and a volunteer fireman for the Woden Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Lampin) Thomas of Woden, Texas; two daughters, Carolyn Avila of Woden, Texas, and Sandy Thomas of Nacogdoches, Texas; five brothers, Bennie Thomas of Houston, Texas, Cecil Thomas of Many, Jack Thomas of Nacogdoches, Texas, Oscar Thomas of Zwolle, and Lee Thomas of Stone Mountain, Georgia; and one grandchild. Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Benjamin Thomas, and Vera Lee (Weathersby) Thomas.
