All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Oscar Allen Thomas (Photo) Funeral services for Mr. Oscar Allen Thomas, 63, were held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1996, in the Aimwell Baptist Church in Zwolle. The Revs. Steve Neesley, Vernon Stephenson, Jerry Penfield, and Charles Duncan officiated. Burial followed in the Aimwell Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Thomas was born on April 21, 1932, in Zwolle. He died Sunday, Feb. 11, at Summitt Institute in Bossier City. He was a faithful member of Aimwell Baptist Church in Zwolle, where he served as a deacon and choir member for 19 years. He was a self employed carpenter, where he left lasting testimonies of his labors in Louisiana, and in Florida. Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara Thomas of Zwolle; three daughters, Sharon Winkle, Debra Martinez (husband David), and Cynthia Aaron (husband Calvin), all of Zwolle; four brothers, Bennie Thomas of Zwolle, Cecil Thomas of Many, Charles Thomas of Chireno, Texas, and Lee Thomas of Stone Mountain, Ga. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Lamar Aaron, D. J. Martinez, Daniel Martinez, Randy Aaron, and Tyler Winkle; and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Clarence B. Thomas; his mother, Vera Lee Thomas; and a brother, James P. Thomas. Pallbearers were Allen Thomas, Eddy Cates, Jerry Grant, Robert Frisby, Dennis Martinez, Rick Martinez, Gilbert Aaron, and Bobby Thomas. Honorary pallbearers were R. L. Maxey, and Ed Ferris. Mr. Thomas will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, wonderful grandfather, and a dependable fishing partner.
