All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Richard Tanner Funeral services for Richard Tanner, 80, of Many, formerly of Liberty, Texas, were held Tuesday, August 9, at 10 a.m., at the Allison Memorial Chapel in Liberty, with Rev. Jim Clemmons officiating. Interment was at the Hardin Cemetery in Hardin, Texas. Mr. Tanner died Saturday, August 6, 1994, at the Sabine Medical Center in Many. He was a native of Liberty County, Texas, and lived in Liberty for 75 years, until recently, when he moved to Many, where he lived for four years. He was a retired self employed carpenter. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Liberty Lodge #48 A.F. & A.M., and the Nolan D. Pickett V.F.W. Post #5621. His survivors include his wife, Edith Tanner of Liberty; his son and daughter-in-law, James C. "Butch" Tanner and Cheryl of Houston; his daughter and son-in-law, Mildred T. Gewin and Paul of Many; a brother, Norman Tanner of Batson; three sisters, Myrtle Karkowski of Liberty, Evelyn McGeehee of Pasadena, Valentine Killian of Dallas; a grandson, Marc Elliot Gewin of Many. Serving as pallbearers were members of Liberty Lodge #48 A.F. & A.M., and the members of V.F.W. Post #5621. Funeral services were under the direction of Allison Funeral Services, Inc. of Liberty, Texas.
