Mattie Acklen Tarpley

  Mrs. Mattie Acklen Tarpley, 68, of Homer, died on Tuesday, July
29. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, in
the First Baptist Church of Homer, with the Rev. A. O. Jenkins
officiating. Burial was in Arlington Cemetery, under the
direction of Pinelands Funeral Home.

  Survivors include her husband, Chance Tarpley; two sons, Charles
Tarpley of Laurel, Miss., and Jerry Tarpley of Shreveport; four
daughters, Mrs. Jean Hutchins of Minden, Mrs. Elouise Lewis of
Shreveport, Mrs. Shirley Musgrove of Crystal Springs, Miss., and
Mrs. Carolyn Akin of Homer; two brothers, Louie Acklen, and Drue
Acklen of Minden; two sisters, Mrs. Dona Mae McComic of Minden,
and Mrs. Gnettie Gordon of Homer; Ivy Prince of Minden; and Bob
Green of Shreveport.

  Mrs. Tarpley was a former resident of Many.
