Tarver, 74, of Hornbeck, were held Jan. 6, at 1 p.m., in Plainview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Aubrey Boswell, and the Rev. Lynn Jones officiating. Burial was in the Holly Grove Cemetery near Anacoco. Mr. Tarver died in Many, Jan. 3, after a short illness. Mr. Tarver, a retired school teacher, received his B.A. in mathematics, at Louisiana State Normal College in Natchitoches. He did post-graduate study at the University of Oklahoma, and Washington State University, Northwestern State College of Natchitoches, and attended Louisiana College. He was a classroom teacher and principal in Natchitoches, Sabine, and Vernon parishes, until his retirement in 1950, and taught in the states of Texas and Washington for several years. He was very active in Red Cross, and Boy Scout work. He was a veteran of World War I, a Master Mason, and member of the Plainview Baptist Church. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Lena Tarver of Hornbeck; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Thornton of Baton Rouge; his mother, Mrs. J. C. Tarver of Kisatchie; four sons, Gordan Floyd of Beaumont, Donald George of Pullman, Wash., John Reed of Washington, D. C., and Milton L. of U. S. Armed Forces, Korea; three brothers, Luther of Natchitoches, John, and Alva, both of Many; a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Jackson of Simpson; and 11 grandchildren.
