A lifelong resident of Zwolle, Mrs. Torres was a Four Star Mother, who lost three sons in World War II. She is survived by a son, Ernest Torres of Zwolle; two daughters, Mrs. Ida LaRoue of Zwolle, and Pearl English of Leesville; five sisters, Susan Remedies, and Eva Ezernack, both of Zwolle, Mrs. Maggie Quianos of Houston, Tex., Lucy Meshell of Benson, and Lillie Procell of Shreveport; two brothers, Fred Longoria, and Abram Longoria, both of Merryville; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was a member of VFW Post No. 3106 of Leesville. She accepted the Bronze Star for bravery for her son, J. B. Torres, at Fort Polk, after his death. Funeral services were held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Monday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. Father Patrick Scully officiated. Burial was in the Old Zwolle Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Earnest Wayne Torres, Kenneth Torres, Sam Busher, Johnnie Busher, Willie Bill LaRoue, Sgt. Joe LaRoue, and Hosie Nonnie Torres. Pallbearers were members of the Leesville VFW Post.
