S. Hwy. 171, about five miles north of Hornbeck in Sabine Parish. Dead is Rosie Lee Trotti, about 41. She died of multiple head injuries. Mrs. Trotti was a passenger in a car driven by Grover Averett, 58, also of Hornbeck. Averett suffered cuts and bruises. The automobile was hit headon by a car driven by Sarah Lee Elias, 26, of New Llano. She sustained cuts and bruises also. According to state police, the accident happened near Toro Creek Bridge in the fog, shrouding the northbound lane of traffic. Officers said the road was wet, and that one of the cars apparently went out of control. Both vehicles were demolished, according to officers. The body of Mrs. Trotti was taken to Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville. Sgt. Charles Russell investigated the accident for the State Police. He was assisted in the direction of traffic by Sheriff's Deputy Elwin Patterson. The Many Volunteer Fire Department was called to put out a fire in one of the cars. Answering the call were Chief Valmore Byles, Louis Robbins, Jimmy Dees, and Bill White.
