All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Harold Dale Thornton, Sr. Services for Mr. Harold Dale Thornton, Sr., 50, of Minden, were held Tuesday, July 12, at 1 p.m., at the Minden Rose-Neath Chapel. The Rev. W. O. Lynch officiated. Burial followed in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with military graveside rites. Mr. Thornton, a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, died July 9, 1983, in the Minden Medical Center, following a sudden illness. He was a chief master sergeant, with 917th TAC, at Barksdale Air Force Base. He was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a native of Delhi, La. He is survived by wife, Mrs. Martha P. Thornton of Minden; two sons, Harold Dale Thornton Jr., and Richard Terry Thornton, both of Minden; two daughters, Deborah Storey of Arcadia, La., and Cynthia Thomas of El Dorado, Ark.; three sisters, Lucille Carolla of Leeland, Miss., Jewel Murphy of Oakland, Calif., and Bessie Hoben of Westlake, La.; two brothers, Homer Lee Thornton of Zwolle, La., and W. R. Thornton of Arcadia; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Elvin Whaley, George Henagan, Ace Hanley, Wayne McCrary, Rick Hammett, and Troy Tippen.
