Thornton Funeral services were held October 15, for Rev. James E. Thornton, 67, who died in Shreveport, October 14, after an extended illness. The services were held in the United Pentecostal Church of Robeline, with the Rev. C. G. Weeks officiating. Burial was in Provencal Cemetery, with Warren Meadows Funeral Home in charge. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Agatha Thornton of Goodpine; four sons, Elton of Shreveport, Rev. Don E. Thornton, and LaVan Thornton of Homer, and Rev. C. D. Thornton of Jena; six daughters, Mrs. Marie Erickson, and Mrs. Eula Vae Donoaho, both of Shreveport, Mrs. Alta Bowen of Ball, Mrs. Heroise Smith of Epps, Mrs. Darlene Osborn of Sulphur, and Mrs. Geraldine Miller of Jena; two brothers, Claude Thornton of Leesville, Virgil of Rayville; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Sweat of Fullerton, Mrs. David Self, and Mrs. Bill Self, both of Rayville; 33 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Rev. Billy White, Rev. Lance McGee, Rev. Ted Dyess, Rev. D. R. Blizzard.
