Officiating was Rev. Benedict Galloway, retired Methodist minister. Interment was at Centuries Memorial Park. Mrs. Turner passed away Tuesday, August 6, at her residence, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Thornton, Ark., and had resided in Shreveport since 1936. Mrs. Turner was a homemaker, and a member of the Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest H. Turner; parents, Orlando and Dora Gilmer; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include one son, James Hoyt Turner and wife Nell of Many; five daughters, Bernice Longino and husband Roy, Jo Semon Knotts and husband Harold, Barbara Griffin and husband Norman, all of Shreveport, Wanda Halverson and husband Mike, Ramona Peckham and husband Ed, all of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; ? great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were her grandsons. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Ellerbe Road United Methodist Church.
