Vickers, 86, died Jan. 27, 2003, in Shreveport, at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center. He was born in Mangham, and was a resident of Converse. Mr. Vickers proudly served his country in World War II. Funeral services were held Jan. 29, at Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel, with interment following at Shiloh Cemetery near Converse, with full military honors. The Rev. Jimmy Price officiated. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Rachel T. Vickers of Converse; three sons, Allen Vickers of Mt. Olive, Ala., Barry Vickers of Port Arthur, Texas, and Ronald Vickers of Angleton, Texas; two sisters, Fannie Trichell of Swarts, and Nellie Crockett of West Monroe; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
