All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Walter "Sparky" Vowell Mr. Walter "Sparky" Vowell, 76, of Converse, passed away at the DeSoto General Hospital, on Monday, August 14, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Vowell is survived by his wife, Alma Lee Vowell of Converse; one daughter, Jo Vinette Wilson of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. T. B. Tatum of Many; three grandsons; one granddaughter; nine great grandchildren; and a host of friends. Mr. Vowell, who was a native of Kerrville, Texas, lived in Medina, Texas, most of his life, before moving to Converse in 1989. He is a charter member of the Plumber's and Steamfitter's Local 198, and a retired field superintendent for oilfield construction. Funeral services for Mr. Vowell were held Thursday, August 17, at 10 a.m., at the Rose-Neath Mansfield Chapel, with interment in the Highland Cemetery in Mansfield. Rev. George Bannister, pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mansfield, officiated the services. Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Mansfield, was director.
