Aubrey Van Veuleman, 75, died at Sabine Medical Center Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. after a two and a half year battle with leukemia. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 15 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Penfield officiating. The Rev. Veuleman was laid to rest beside his parents in the Cedar Grove Cemetery following a graveside Masonic and Military 'Taps" Service. Pallbearers were his grandsons. The Rev. Veuleman was a resident of Sabine Parish for 11 years. He was a retired Baptist Minister having served in churches in Louisiana and Texas for over 30 years. After returning to Sabine Parish he accepted a call from Mt. Freedom Baptist Church and served as their interim pastor for the last 10 years until the time of his death. He was active in the North Sabine Baptist Association having served in many capacities, the latest being Chairman of Evangelism. He was also a 32nd degree mason of 50 years and a Shriner, serving as Chaplain of the Many Lodge and past Master of the Ajax Lodge. He graduated from Southern University in Lafayette, in 1948, with a B. S. Degree in Agriculture. After teaching for six years he entered the pastoral ministry and went to New Orleans Baptist Church Theological School where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Divinity in 1956. He also served his country in the U.S. Marines for four years during World War II. The Rev. Veuleman was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Edward Veuleman and Mary Lee Campbell Veuleman; one brother, Leland "Webb" Veuleman; a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather and brother, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of four years, Mrs. Joyce Fandal Veuleman of Rocky Springs, from Olla three sons, Donald Clyde and wife, Theresa, Van Joseph and wife, Linda, Dan Edward and wife, Jody; two daughters, Jan Marie Allbritton and husband, Nathan of Robeline, and Annette Klingman and husband, Joe of Raceland; 11 grandchildren, Dylas Sinclair, Tessa Veuleman, Chris Veuleman, Jarred Fonseca, Danille Veuleman, Glenn, Samantha and Katie Baker and Amanda Allbritton, Chris and Alana Klingman; and one brother, Melvin Truitt "Doc" Veuleman and wife, Mary Lou. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all who prayed, visited or gave blood platlets and the Les Fontaine Funeral Home. Also much thanks to Dr. Jack Corley and the wonderful staff of Sabine Medical Center who took such excellent care of him during his illness. Sincere thanks as well to the precious girls at Lifeshare Blood Center and a plea to all who read this to go and give platlets or blood so others may live.
