Mr. Vines was born on Nov. 20, 1914, in Noble, La., to Hamp Vines and Rosa Pugh Vines. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and the Korean War, and a member of the VFW Post of Marble Falls, Tex. Survivors include his wife, Betty Vines of Burnet, Tex.; two sons, William (Bill) Vines, and Robert A. Vines, both of Calif.; two stepdaughters, Teresa Wright of Gladewater, Tex., and Alisa Lacy of Pine Bluff, Ark.; four sisters, Oma Dwire of San Augustine, Tex., Emma Bell of Granbury, Tex., Ester Dornan of Clarksville, Michigan, Rosa Torres of LaPlace, La.; and one brother, Kit Vines of Center, Tex.; and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services were Feb. 4, 1994, at 1:30 p.m., at the San Patrice Baptist Church, with Rev. Fred Bell officiating, with burial in the Cassel Cemetery in Noble, La.
