Vines, 83, of Florien, died in the Many Clinic Thursday, Nov. 2, after a lengthy illness. Dr. Vines was a graduate of the Memphis School of Medicine, and had been a doctor in this area for the past 50 years. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Earl Marr, and the Rev. Sistrunk officiating. Masonic rites were held at graveside. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Katie Vines of Florien; six sons, Ivy Lee Vines, and Ralph Vines of Many, Eldry Vines of Leesville, Ferman Vines of Toro, Robert Vines of Lake Charles, and Crawford Vines of Eros; one daughter, Mrs. Lavern Tipton of Mooringsport; two sisters, Mrs. J. P. Ramsey of Lake Charles, and Mrs. Bell Daily of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 15 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Howard Salter, Ernest Bush, Herman McConathy, Gerald Knippers, Howard Arnold, and Curtis Marr.
