All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Nina Vandegaer Sister Mary Teresa (formerly Nina Vandegaer), 72 years of age, passed away at the Mother House of the Sisters of Divine Providence in San Antonio, Texas, June 19th, 1964. Sister Teresa had served in the religious life for 55 years, having celebrated her golden jubilee as a professed nun on July 26, 1962. She had taught in many of the Catholic Schools of Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma. Funeral services were conducted in the Annunciation Chapel of Our Lady of the Lake Convent, San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday, June 23, 1964. The Requiem High Mass was celebrated by her brother, Rt. Rev. John C. Vandegaer, and burial was in the convent cemetery. Sister Teresa was the daughter of the late Dan Vandegaer, and the late Alice West Vandegaer, who were residents of Sabine Parish for many years. She is survived by two brothers, Rt. Rev. John C. Vandegaer of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Thomas J. Vandegaer of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Mrs. Marion Corley of Many, Louisiana; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marion Corley, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Vines, and Rev. M. R. Gremillion attended the funeral of Sister M. Teresa in San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday, June 23rd. Also attending were Rt. Rev. J. C. Vandegaer of Shreveport, La., Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Vandegaer of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mrs. Weldon Anderson of Shreveport, La.
