Varnado 8 Oct 1943 - Funeral services for E. S. Varnado, age 80 years, who died Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 4:30 p.m. at his home near Robeline were held at Fort Jesup church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday with Rev. C. W. Williams of Many officiating, assisted by Rev. J. P. Fortenberry of Fisher. Mr. Varnado was born in Kentwood, Miss., but his lived in Sabine parish for the past 55 years. He was a retired farmer near Robeline, was an old member of the Masonic lodge. He is survived by his wife, Ida Stoker Varnado; five daughters, Mrs. R. M. Winn and M. C. Rhodes of Shreveport, Mrs. Rueben Goodman of Many, Mrs. Raymond Salter of Noble, Ill., Mrs. H. J. Mims of Robeline, three sons, Otha of Robeline; John and Morris of Many; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and one brother, Merce Varnado of Kentwood, Miss. The pallbearers were the grandsons: Ray Hewitt Winn and Linnie Winn of Shreveport, Gordon Parker of Many, O. E. Varnado, Jr., of Robeline; sons-in-laws, M. C. Rhodes of Shreveport and H. J. Mims of Robeline. Interment under the direction of Dennis-Green funeral home, Many.
