Katie Varnell

  Katie Varnell, 62, of Jefferson, died Sunday, Feb. 11, in a
local hospital, after a long illness.

  The funeral was held Wednesday, Feb. 10, in Haggard Funeral Home
Chapel, with the Rev. Louis Boyd officiating. Burial followed in
Savanah Cemetery near Jefferson.

  Survivors include her husband, Fred Varnell Sr. of Jefferson;
two sons, James Varnell of Houston, and Fred Varnell Jr. of
Jefferson; two daughters, Pearl McGriff of Jefferson, and Ann
Nicholson of Riverside, Calif.; one brother, J. L. Sebren of
White Oak; two sisters, Dixie Averitt of Converse, and Marzie
Parnell of Longview; and 10 grandchildren.
