Scottie E. Vernon

  Mrs. Scottie E. Vernon, 81, of Jackson, Mississippi, died
Sunday, June 17, at Crossgate Nursing Home. Services were held at
9:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home
Chapel. Burial was at 3:30 p.m., in Forest Park Cemetery in
Shreveport.

  She was a native of Shreveport, and a former resident of Baton
Rouge, where she was a house mother at Louisiana State
University. Mrs. Vernon was a resident of Jackson for the past 16
years, and a member of Christ Methodist Church.

  Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lowrey of New Smyrna Beach,
Florida; a son, Benton R. Vernon of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister,
Mary Dee Manhein of Shreveport; and seven grandchildren.
