All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Ophelia Webb 28 Feb 1947 - Funeral services for Mrs. Ophelia Webb, age 87 years, who died at her home in Zwolle Saturday at 11:45 a.m., after several weeks illness were held Sunday from the Zwolle First Baptist church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Flanigan, former pastor of the Zwolle church, officiating. She was born in Miller county, Ark., Sept. 26, 1861, and came to Sabine parish as a bride on the first passenger train over the T&P railway to Pleasant Hill. She was the daughter of the late Thomas W. Hooker of Alabama and Betty Pratt Hooker. Mrs. Webb was a charter member of the First Baptist church of Zwolle. She was a loyal church member, an outstanding Christiann and at the time of her death she was the oldest living member of the congregation here. She was also a kind friend and a good neighbor to all who came her way. Her deeds of kindness were manifold and her friends were legion. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Clara Isgate, Zwolle; three sons, Ike B. Webb, Sugarland, Texas, Thomas Cleveland Webb, Baton Rouge, and William Clyde Webb of Shreveport; one brothers, David Wallace Hooker, Zwolle; tow sisters, Mrs. T. J. Cranford of Blackwell, Okla., Mrs. Claude Hopkins of Wichita Falls, Texas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Webb reared Rose Clark McQuade of Chicago, Illinois, who was taken into her home when still an infant. Active pallbearers were Senator R. L. Gay, H. H. Thomas, Louis Lefkovits, Roy Sibley, A. A. Drewitt and C. J. Davis.
