The cause of death was due to an extended illness. Services were held at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, and interment was held at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery, June 1, at 10 a.m. The Rev. M. C. Green, and the Rev. H. H. Tibbitts officiated. Pallbearers were Harold Cook, Maurice Westfall, J. H. Cook, Murl Westfall, Lavon Westfall, and Earl Westfall. Surviving relatives are five sons, Carl of Rosepine, Otus, A. V., Loyd, and J. W., all of Florien; five daughters, Mrs. Ella Cobb, Mrs. Susie Cook, Mrs. Murtle Barron, Mrs. Opal Cook, all of Florien, Mrs. Ouida Hilton of Leesville; one sister, Mrs. R. D. Blackstone of New York; 40 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
