Wood, 64, of Coushatta, were held Monday, July 1, 1996, at 10 a.m., at Coushatta Rose-Neath Chapel, with Rev. Glenn Rogers officiating, and Sister Norene Delp assisting. Interment was at Springhill Cemetery in Ringgold. Mr. Wood passed away Saturday, June 29, at Natchitoches Parish Hospital, of a sudden illness. He was born in Powhatan, a member of the Church at Jordan Ferry. He was a meat grader for the State Department of Agriculture, and he was also a veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claudie Lee Wood, and Cleo Wood; brother, Ray Wood; two sisters, Elinor Roddy, and Frances Kay Wood. Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Conly Wood of Coushatta; one son, Charles R. (Buddy) Wood and wife Melinda of Many; daughter, Leigh Jonson and husband Bill of Leesville; four sisters, Doris Lee Stevens of Belle Chasse, Lurline Dykes of Pleasant Hill, Marcia Mitchell of Marthaville, and Carolyn Gewin of Pleasant Hill; five grandchildren, Laura Wood, John Charles Wood, and Erin Wood, all of Many, Adam Jonson, and Fletcher Jonson of Leesville; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to the Gideons International, 135 Hickory Drive, Many, La. 71449, or to the American Heart Association.
