L. Canterbury's pond in Florien, according to Deputy Alfice Brumley of the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Department. Dead was Kenny Ray White. The Sheriff's Dept. received the call at 5:15 p.m., and the body was recovered and being loaded in an ambulance by 5:45 p.m. Answering the call with Brumley were Deputy Floyd Terrill, State Trooper Joe Byles, and Florien Marshal Clifton Davis. White had been playing ball, and decided to go in swimming with Richard Jones and his aunt Yvonne Lowe afterwards. White had swam toward the center of the pond, and started yelling for help. Both Jones and the Lowe woman attempted to help him, but could not. Sabine Parish Coroner, Dr. J. Lane Sauls pronounced White dead from accidental drowning. The Canterbury pond is located behind Glenn Lilly's home.
