All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Cora Wedgeworth Mrs. Cora Wedgeworth, 72, of Rt. 5, Many, was killed instantly, and two other persons were injured in a head-on car collision at 3:15 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, 2 1/2 miles west of Robeline near the Sabine Parish line. Mrs. Wedgeworth's husband, Henry Wedgeworth, 78, was seriously injured, and the driver of the other car involved, Charles Lockwood, 20, also of Many, received injuries. Wedgeworth and Lockwood were taken to Many Clinic and Hospital, and later that night, Wedgeworth was transferred to a Shreveport hospital, where he was reported in serious condition. Earlier this week, Wedgeworth was reported as "some better", and he was still in the hospital. Sgt. Gerald Jeansonne, with the St. Police out of Natchitoches, said Wedgeworth was driving his later model car east, and met a car driven by Lockwood. The two vehicles met head-on, on a straight stretch of Highway, according to Jeansonne. Both vehicles were badly damaged. Funeral services for Mrs. Wedgeworth were held Sunday, Feb. 7, in the Aimwell Baptist Church. The Rev. D. R. Miller, and the Rev. Elton Mitchell officiated. Burial, in the Aimwell cemetery, was under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Survivors include her husband, Henry Wedgeworth of Many; a son, James Wedgeworth of Many; two daughters, Mrs. James Salter of Bossier City, and Mrs. Homer Townsend of Converse; two brothers, Randell, and Lester Pilcher, both of Many; five sisters, Mrs. Flora Wedgeworth of Zwolle, Mrs. Nanny Dew of Mt. Carmel, Mrs. Hoyt Gandy of Many, Mrs. Charles Love of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. W. O. Gandy of Fort Worth, Tex. Pallbearers were her nephews.
