All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Eugene Allne Whitley 18 Feb 1949 - Masonic funeral services for Eugene Allne Whitley, 73, who died at his home, in Shreveport, at 4 p.m. Wednesday of last week following a sudden heart attack, were held last Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Queensborough Baptist church with Rev. W. C. Borum, pastor Kelly Memorial Baptist church. Interment was in Forest Park cemetery under direction of Rose-Neath funeral home. Members of the W. H. Booth lodge of Masons served as pallbearers. Mr. Whitley was a retired police officer having served in Shreveport as a patrolman for a number of years under the administration of the late Public Service Commissioners, R. L. Stringfellow and T. C. Dawkins. After retiring from the police force, Mr. Whitley served as a school patrolman at the Queensborough school. He was a member of the W. H. Booth lodge of Masons and the Woodmen of the World. He had been a resident of Shreveport for 30 years. Mr. Whitley is survived by his widow; one son, J. A. Whitley, Sr., Shreveport, five daughters, Mrs. Orie Wald, Mrs. F. G. Montgomery and Mrs. Lloyd Sudduth of Shreveport, Mrs. W. A. Perryman, Longview, Texas and Mrs. J. A. Sims, Jr., of El Dorado, Ark; one brother, DeWitt Whitley, and a sister, Mrs. J. B. Jeter, both of Shreveport; 18 grandchildren. Mt. Whitley was the husband of the former Kate Wagley Whitley, life-long resident of the Middle Creek community.
