Dees Whittlesey died Monday, Nov. 30, at Briarcliff Nursing Center in Greenville, Texas. Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 3, at Many Cemetery. The Rev. Eddie Smith officiated. Mrs. Whittlesey was a school teacher and music teacher in Kilgore, Texas, and Louisiana. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Kilgore, Texas, for more than 50 years. Mrs. Whittlesey was also a member of Miriam Sunday School Class, Primetimers Senior Choir, Kilgore Music Club, and Founder of Community Concerts of Kilgore. Survivors include one sister, Nell Powers of Greenville, Texas; one brother, Kenneth Ramsey and wife Ouida of Jackson, Miss.; one niece, Alice Nell Powers Logan and husband Clarence of Texarkana, Texas; two nephews, Gene Powers and wife Marge of Houston, Texas, and Raymond Powers and wife Judy Berger of Carrollton, Texas; and great nieces and nephews, Greg Powers and wife Becky, and children, Conor, and Riley of Manchester, N. H., Laura Bradshaw and husband Dan and children, Patti, and Ryan of Houston, Texas, Laurie Swindle and husband Butch of El Paso, Ark., Vicki Roberts and husband Kevin of Plano, Texas, and Joshua, Adam, and Rachel Powers of Carrollton, Texas. Mrs. Whittlesey was preceded in death by her husband, J. Raymond Whittlesey, and her parents, A. G. Dees and Alice German Dees. Pallbearers were Gary Davis, C. R. Logan, Gene Powers, and Raymond Powers. Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Ramsey, and Brown Wooley. Peters Funeral Home, Greenville, Texas.
