Gary was born February 11, 1962, in Carrollton, Mo., the son of Gale and Norma Scott Whitmer. He attended Carrollton Grade and High School. Gary was married to Willie Jean Britt on November 11, 1988. He worked on an offshore drilling rig for SONAT. Survivors include his wife; his parents, Gale Whitmer of Carrollton, Mo., and his mother, Norma Whitmer of Many; two brothers, Tony Whitmer of Lees Summit, Mo., and Danny Whitmer of Carrollton, Mo.; two sisters, Anita Colliver of Many, and Cindy Kerby of Lincoln, Nebraska; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frances Scott of Carrollton, Mo.; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Elvina Nachtigall of Salina, Kansas; five nieces; and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his twin brother in 1962. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 25, at the Gibson-Rice Funeral Home in Carrollton, Mo., with Brother Darrell Harris officiating. Visitation was held from 7:00 p.m., until 9:00 p.m., Sunday evening, at the Gibson-Rice Funeral Home. Burial was in the Braden Cemetery of Coloma, Mo.
