Texas were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 al Chapel of Sallie Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage with Bro. Larry Wiley and Bro. Dick Sawyer officiating under the direction of Sallie Lipsey Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at II a.m. Monday, April 24 at Bayou Scie near Many with the Rev. Adrian Fairchild officiating. Mr. Woodrow died Thursday, April 20 in Baton Rouge. He was born in Zwolle on October 21. 1915. He was the son of Willie J. and Ada Eudora Chandler Aten. He served in the European Theater during World War II with the United States Army. Mr. Aten was awarded the Purple Heart in Austria. Later he worked as an oil field worker and retired from Exxon Corporation in 1977. After retirement, Mr. Aten moved to DeBerry and was a member of DeBerry Baptist Church and a member of VFW. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Priscialla. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dee Aten of DeBerry; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and C.J. Dawson of DeBerry; three grandchildren, Richard Dawson, Shane Dawson and wife, 'Mandy and Crystal Dawson, all of DeBerry; one great-grandson, Arlen Dawson of DeBerry and a host of nieces and nephews.
