Mr. Witherington, a native of Arkansas, was a World War II, U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, and retired from the U.S. Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Ala., where he lived for 35 years, before moving to Montgomery. Survivors include his widow, Mary Louise Lewing Witherington; one daughter, Sharon Witherington Thomason (husband David); grandchildren, Kimberly Louise Thomason, and Matthew Kyle Thomason, all of Montgomery; and a brother, A. D. Witherington of Hamburg, Ark. Funeral services were held Friday, April 11, at 11 a.m., at Lewing Chapel in Many. Burial was in Lewing Chapel Cemetery.
