Vairas G. Welborn

  Services for Mr. Vairas G. Welborn, 63, were held at 10 a.m.,
Monday, Oct. 5, in Pelican Methodist Church, with Rev. Newton
Smith. Burial, with Masonic graveside rites were in Pelican
Cemetery, under the direction of Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel.

  Mr. Welborn, a native and resident of Pelican, died Oct. 3,
1987, at his residence, following a short illness. He was a
retired pipe fitter, a member of Pelican Methodist Church, a
member of the Scottish Rites Shreveport Chapter, a 32nd Degree
Mason, a past master of Pelican Masonic Lodge, and a member of
the O.E.S. Pelican Chapter.

  Survivors include his wife, Wanda Welborn of Pelican; four sons,
Travis Welborn of Bossier City, Huey Welborn of Rodessa, Earl
Welborn of Bossier City, and V. G. Welborn Jr. of Bossier City;
two daughters, Selwin Wilkins of Converse, Shirley Falmer of
Bossier City; one step son, Tommy Matthews of Mansfield; one
brother, Roy Welborn of Pelican; 13 grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.

  Pallbearers were Masons.
