Welborn, 63, were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 5, in Pelican Methodist Church, with Rev. Newton Smith. Burial, with Masonic graveside rites were in Pelican Cemetery, under the direction of Rose-Neath's Mansfield Chapel. Mr. Welborn, a native and resident of Pelican, died Oct. 3, 1987, at his residence, following a short illness. He was a retired pipe fitter, a member of Pelican Methodist Church, a member of the Scottish Rites Shreveport Chapter, a 32nd Degree Mason, a past master of Pelican Masonic Lodge, and a member of the O.E.S. Pelican Chapter. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Welborn of Pelican; four sons, Travis Welborn of Bossier City, Huey Welborn of Rodessa, Earl Welborn of Bossier City, and V. G. Welborn Jr. of Bossier City; two daughters, Selwin Wilkins of Converse, Shirley Falmer of Bossier City; one step son, Tommy Matthews of Mansfield; one brother, Roy Welborn of Pelican; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Masons.
