All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index - Luther Wallace Willis 8 Mar 1957 - Luther Wallace Willis, 83, pioneer citizen and retired businessman of Zwolle, passed away Friday, March 1 at the Sabine clinic in Zwolle following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 2, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist church, Zwolle, with the Rev. J. C. Whitaker of DeRidder officiating assisted by the Rev. B. T. Scrivner, pastor, and the Rev. James Lawton, pastor of the First Methodist church of Zwolle. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Willis had served as justice of the peace and was a former member of the town council. He was a member of the First Baptist church and a former member of the board of deacons. Surviving are his son, J. Carl Willis of Zwolle; a brother, Robert Willis of Mansfield; two sisters, Mrs. L. M. Miller of Baton Rouge and Mrs. Annie Moore of Alexandria. Pallbearers were Randell Parrott, Robert Pearson, Roy Sibley, Ed Jones, Carl Byers, F. P. McCormick, Willie Wright and Jimmy Graves. Interment was in the Zwolle cemetery under the direction of the Drewitt funeral home in Mansfield.
