Wallace died at 4:45 a.m., Sunday, May 27, at Medical Center of Baton Rouge. Services were held Wednesday, May 30, at 2 p.m., at Centreville Baptist Church. Dr. C. Ferris Jordan, Dr. Chuck Pourciau, and Dr. Wayne Barnes officiated. Interment followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery. He was 71, a native of Mitchell, and a resident of Centreville, Miss. For seven years. He was an educator for 31 years, having served as a teacher and principal, and retired East Feliciana Parish School Board supervisor of child welfare. He was also a resident of the Oak Grove Community, Converse, and attended the Fellowship Baptist Church. He taught Vocational Agriculture at the Oak Grove High School for several years. His parents were Seba and Lucille Wallace of the Oak Grove Community. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elna Mobley Wallace, Centreville; a daughter and son-in-law, Kaye Salassi and Bill Salassi, Houston, Texas; three sons, and two daughters-in-law, Lynn Wallace and Mrs. Linda Wallace, Centreville, Mark Wallace and Mrs. Cheryl Wallace, Madison, Wisc., and Alan Wallace, Baton Rouge; a sister, Mrs. Annie Belle Patrick, Converse; six brothers; eight sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Martin (Edna) Wallace, Converse, the Rev. and Mrs. Perry (Edwina) Wallace, Dallas, Texas, the Rev. and Mrs. Ray (Bobbye) Wallace, Shreveport, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Sue) Wallace, Nashville, Tenn., the Rev. and Mrs. Bob (Dot) Wallace, Oakdale, Frank Wallace, Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Wallace, Minden, Mrs. Anita Lowe Henderson, Nev., E. W. "Casey" Jones, Converse, and Larry Mobley, Amite; a special family friend, Julie McKey, Slaughter; four grandchildren, Christie, and Jill Wallace, both of Centreville, Brennan, and Ashley Salassi, both of Houston; numerous nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; a sister; two brothers; and a brother-in-law; and nephew, Joe Wallace, former Minister of Music at First Baptist in Many. Pallbearers were nephews. He was a member of Centreville Baptist Church, Centreville. He was a deacon of Slaughter Baptist Church, Slaughter, and Zoar Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, for 31 years, before residing in Centreville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Centreville Baptist Church, Centreville Academy, or Central Baptist Association, Madison, Wisc.
