Officiating was Rev. Foster Jennings of Bethel Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. Robert Salts of Bethel Baptist Church. Interment followed at Zions Rest Cemetery near Pleasant Hill. Mrs. Wells passed away on Sunday, March 31, at 3:25 p.m., at Pierremont Heritage Manor, following a brief illness. She was born November 1, 1901, near Pleasant Hill, and resided in the Ajax Community of Natchitoches Parish for eighty one years. For the past eight years, she was a resident of Pierremont Heritage Manor, where she was selected as Miss Piermont Heritage Manor in 1987. She was a homemaker, and a long time member of Bethel Methodist Church, where she was involved in many aspects of church activities. Her life was characterized by her love for her church, her family, her friends, music, and flowers. Her home was noted for its hospitality. Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years, Oscar M. Wells. Mrs. Wells is survived by two sons, Ray Wells and wife Audry of Mansfield, and Alton T. Wells and wife Lorraine of Niles, Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Strong and husband James, and Mrs. Frances Gray and husband Ruffin, both of Shreveport; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Pallbearers and Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons.
