All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** George Welsh, Jr. Graveside services for George Welsh Jr., 70, were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4, at the Noble Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Major James L. Cross officiated. Mr. Welsh entered the Army on the third try. He failed on the first two attempts, but was determined on a career in the service. He served for 28 years, retiring in 1973, at the rank of E-7. Twenty three of the twenty eight years was overseas duty, having been in just about every country but Spain. He served in the Korean Conflict, was wounded, and received the Purple Heart. He was also on active duty during the war in Vietnam. George was military in his life, and in his death. Survivors are his wife, Marie Welsh of Noble; three daughters, Lynn Howard of Ludwisi, Ga., Delma Deniese Frazier of Marietta, Ga., and Debra McNare of Midway, Ga.,; two sons, Danny Welsh of Atlanta, Ga., and Bruce Welsh of Ludwisi, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Isgitt of Many; one stepson, Kenneth Knippers of Noble; 10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
