S. Huckabay Memorial Hospital in Coushatta. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, at the Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Springhill Cemetery. Bro. Billy Burkett officiated and Bro. Billy Stevens assisted. Mr. Wilson was born in Bienville Parish and moved to Red River Parish in 1914. In his earlier years, he owned and operated a restaurant in East Point. He helped build streets on Barksdale Air Force Base, and ran a General Mercantile Store in East Point until 1945. Mr. Wilson entered the oil business in the early 40's and continued to be active in the business until his death. He was also active in the cattle business. He graduated from East Point School where he ran track and played basketball. He was a past member of the Red River Parish School Board, Board of Stewards of First United Methodist Church in Coushatta, member of the Coushatta/Red River Chamber of Commerce, Louisiana Cattleman's Association, Coushatta Lions club, and a member of the Harmon Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Abbie Wilson of Coushatta; one son, Roger A. Wilson and wife, Susan, of Harmon; one stepdaughter, Sharon Willis and husband, Ron of Coushatta; one step daughter-in-law, Brenda Beard of King, N.C.; two brothers, Ruffin Wilson of East Point, and Ralph Wilson of Ringgold; one sister, Eula Zeff of Shreveport; two granddaughters, Victoria Seese and husband, Jeff of Lenoir City, Tenn. and Terry Bryant and husband, Mark of Vivian; two step-grandsons, James C. Beard of Warner Robbins, Ga. and Bryan Michael Beard of King, N. C.; four great-grandchildren; and a long time and loyal friend, Billy Joe Smith. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his first wife, Retha Martin Wilson; one stepson, Mike Beard; four brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers were Billy Pettigrew, John Pettigrew, James Wilson, Billy Wilson, Larry Shaw and H. D. Pickett. Honorary pallbearers were Oneld Driggers, Pugh Huckabay. Johnny Duco.
