Walker, 82, of Shreveport, were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 30, at the Wellman Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Donald L. Raiford, pastor of Westview Christian Church, where Mr. Walker was a member, officiated. Burial was in Forest Park Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1983, at Virginia Hall Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Walker, a native of San Angelo, Texas, had lived in Ruston, La., most of his life, prior to moving to Shreveport in 1934. He was a retired engineer for the Shreveport City Water Department, and a member of the Shreveport Rose Society. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Grace T. Walker; and one sister, Mrs. I. T. Williams, both of Shreveport; three nieces, Helen Grace of Newelton, La., Dorothy Eaves of Shreveport; and Mary Abington of Many, La.; two nephews, R. F. Williams of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Ardis Williams of Shreveport. Pallbearers were Mack Boykin, James Royce Whittington, Ken Burnett, Vernon Burges, Rickey Womack, and Ivy Nicewarner. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Boston, C. O. Thomas, Ardis Williams, Leonard Abington, and Gary Grace.
