All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Sabine Index James Bernard Walton, Sr. - February 18, 1988 Services were conducted at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 8801 Mansfield Road for Mr. James Bernard Walton Sr., 92, of Shreveport at 2 p.m. Monday, February 15. Monsignor Carson LaCaze of Saint Mary of the Pines Catholic Church officiated. Interment was at Centuries Memorial Park. A rosary was held at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Centuries Chapel. Mr. Walton, a native of Clayton, Texas and a lifelong resident of Shreveport, entered into rest Saturday, February 13, 1988, at heritage Manor South after a lengthy illness. He was retired from Lee Hardware, where he was the Warehouse Manager for fifty-three years. He was a Veteran of World I, an original member of Shreveport Unit National Guard #156 Infantry, a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Saint Ann's Catholic Church of Stonewall, La. Mr. Walton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie Lugien Walton; one son, James Bernard (J.B.) Walton; one brother, Turner Walton; four sisters, Willie Brown, Gertie Frazier, Lucille Manning and Margaret Walton. He is survived by one son, Robert D. Walton, Sr. and his wife, Mary of Mansfield, La., four granddaughters, Cheryl Awtry and her husband Ted of Shreveport, Anita Wilkerson and her husband, Tommy of Paris, Texas, Donette Walton Bell and her husband, Richard of Converse, La. and Paula Walton McCook of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandsons, James Bernard (Jim) Walton III and his wife, Vickie of Shreveport, John Keith Walton and his wife, Derona, of Shreveport, Robert D. Walton Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Houston, Texas and James V. Walton of Mansfield, two sisters, Era Walton Gibson of Bossier City and Flora Belle Sherrod of Shreveport; one brother, Pirkie Walton of Texarkana, Ark. Fourteen great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were his grandsons. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. P. V. Blanchard and Heritage Manor South Staff Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children.
