Williams 2 May 1947 - Funeral rites for Sam K. Williams, age 71, who died at his home in Florien following a short illness, were conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday from Florien Baptist church by Rev. V. K. Fletcher, pastor, assisted by Rev. W. G. Bailey and Rev. Stockman. Interment was in Antioch cemetery under direction Massingill funeral home. Surviving relatives are: wife, Mrs. S. K. Williams, Florien, sons H. E. Williams of Florien and Winifred Wiliams of U.S. Army, South Dakota, daughter, Miss Madge Williams, New Orleans; grand-daughter, Bonnie Fay Williams, Florien; brothers B. L., E. L., and L. L. of Florien, R. L. of Shreveport, D. S. of Natchitoches, W. B. of Jennings, Jeff of Leesville and V. B. of Port Arthur, Texas; sisters, Mrs. Joe Dover of Florien, Mrs. W. E. Leach of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Bessie Curtis of Springhill; step-mother, Mrs. J. H. William, Florien. Mr. Williams had been active in public affairs all his life, having served as police juror of ward one, member parish welfare board and parish AAA.
