Williams 23 Feb 1951 - Funeral services were held for Richard H. Williams Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Pisgah Baptist church with Rev. W. T. Love officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. B. Prewitt, pastor. Pallbearers were Tim McNeely, Ivey Miller, Kyler Jackson, Johnny McDowell, J. Y. Dempsey, Jr., and Holland Presley. Mr. Williams died Tuesday, Feb. 6 in Fraziers sanitarium after a short illness. Interment was in Pisgah cemetery. Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Irene Prewitt Williams; a brother, James F. Stephenson of Flint, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Vickersdykes of Tyler, Texas; an aunt, Mrs. Dave Kirkman of Dangerfield, Texas, and many relatives in Dangerfield, Texas. Mr. Williams came to Louisiana in the early thirties and resided in Pisgah community for a long period of time. His original name was Stephenson, having adopted the name of Williams from the people he lived with after his parents died. He was a veteran of World War One having served in Co. K, 359th Infantry, 90th division in France. He received several wounds during the time he was in France. All who knew him will always miss him as he made friends readily and was always ready to do a favor for anyone.
