Williams 5 May 1961 - Funeral services for Mrs. S. J. Williams were conducted here Saturday, afternoon, April 29, at the First Baptist church with Dr. Kelly Fitzgerald officiating and Mrs. Williams' pastor, Dr. James W. Taylor from Highland Baptist church of Shreveport, assisting. The services were under the direction of the Warren Funeral Home. Mrs. Williams and the late S. J. Williams were residents of Many for many years, but for the past few years Mrs. Williams had made her home in Shreveport with Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Williams. At the time of her death she was visiting her daughter in Statesville, N. C. While a resident of Many, Mrs. Williams was a very active member of the First Baptist church having been a Junior teacher for over 10 years and a WMU worker who served as a local and associational officer for many years. She was recognized statewide for her outstanding participation in OES being a charter member of of Sabine Chapter 171. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. J. R. Stewart of Statesville, N. C.; five sons, Herald J of Palestine, Texas, Herbert O. of Shreveport, S. J. of Beaumont, Texas; Carl L. of Corpus Christi, Texas; and George H. of Robstown, Texas, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Pallbearers were James Stewart, George Cook, Roy Alford, Herbert Gandy, Evelyn Patrick and E. A. Scaife all former neighbors of Mrs. Williams.
