Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam K. Williams, Florien, was graduated from Florien high school in the spring of 1934. He did further studies at Louisiana Normal College. He enlisted in the U.S. army air forces June 12, 1941, attended the school for bombardiers at Big Springs, Texas, and received his wings on May 4, 1943, arrived in England on May 12. He received no communications from home except a cablegram after he landed on foreign soil. His last letter to his mother was written on June 12 and he was reported missing in action on June 13. His parents received notice of his disappearance on Jun 21; on Sept. 7 they received official notice from the war department that Lt. Williams had been reported killed by the International Red Cross. Lt. Williams leaves to mourn his death his parents of Florien; one sister, Miss Madge Williams, a student nurse in Hotel Dieu hospital, Beaumont, Texas; two brothers, Cpl. Winnfred Williams, a prisoner of was in Philippine prison came number one, and Hayward Williams of Florien. He also leaves his fiancee, Miss Lucille Stenzel, Houston, Texas, and a host of relatives and friends. . . . . followed by a poem and a message of Lt. Williams being a L. Barrett of Beaumont, Texas; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
