Vernon D. Williams

  Mr. Vernon D. Williams, 62, of Jasper, Texas, died May 25, 1989.

  Services were held on Saturday, May 27, at 2 p.m., at Stringer &
Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Curtis Herrington
officiating. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery, under the
direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home.

  Mr. Williams, a native of San Augustine County, had lived in
Jasper for 10 years, and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

  Survivors include two sons, Douglas E. Williams of Converse,
La., and Johnny D. Williams of Bon Weir, Tex.; one daughter,
Sissie Webb of Jasper, Tex.; five brothers, Sherman Williams of
Crosby, Tex., Elton Williams, and Bill Williams, both of Zavalla,
Tex., O'Daniel Williams of Hunnington, Tex., and Johnny Williams
of Houston, Tex.; one sister, Merlene Shoup of Garwood, Tex.;
seven grandchildren.
