Williams Sr., 87, of Many, died Jan. 18, in Many, after a short illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m., in the Warren Meadows Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. George York, Rev. Frank L. Beaucham, and the Rev. Earl Marr officiating. Interment was in the Many Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. O. E. Williams Sr. of Many; three sons, Charles, and Emory Williams of Many, and Jack Williams of Opelousas; one daughter, Mrs. John L. Baird of Shreveport; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers were T. M. Phillips, Horace Hompkins, F. E. Cole, Jack Carmichael, Harvey Arthur, Glenn Phares, J. Reuel Boone, and H. P. Flenniken. Honorary pallbearers were the Directors of the Sabine State Bank and Trust Co., and the Supervisors for the Upper Sabine Soil and Water Conservation District. Mr. Williams was a member of the First Southern Methodist Church. He was a Director and Vice President of the Sabine Stat Bank and Trust Co., a farmer and conservationist for 38 years, and a chairman of the Board of Supervisors for the Upper Sabine Soil and Water Conservation District. He also operated a large mercantile store in Many from 1908 to 1942, when he retired to raise cattle, horses, mules, and timber.
